South Africa, a country famous for its stunning landscapes, unique wildlife, diverse culture and places like Cape Town and Johannesburg has produced many successful racing drivers in the past. Those include 1979 F1 world champion Jody Scheckter, Touring car driver Mike Briggs, F1 Medical car driver Alan van der Merwe and former F1 driver Desirè Wilson. The race that never happened – A guide to Spa 2021
Ever since I started to watch Formula 1 in 2017 I had the dream of attending a race weekend in person. In 2019 I then finally booked tickets for the 2020 Belgian GP but due to Covid-19, it wasn’t open to the public. I was incredibly sad as I had already been looking forward to it. Esteban Ocon – From living in a caravan to winning an F1 race
Born into a middle-class family as the son of a mechanic Esteban Ocon was always well supported by his parents. But the early stages of his motorsport career weren’t easy. His family struggled to afford his participation in karting to the point that they even sold their house to make it possible. Esteban spent this time of his life living in a caravan and traveling from race to race while still completing his studies. But with all these sacrifices came also responsibility and pressure: The pressure to be good, to not fail, to make it all worth it. Lights-Out: Pizza, Pasta, Imola
For the second round of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship the series returned to Imola. A classic track with just a few difficult overtaking opportunities. So expectations for a nerve-racking race were rather low. But with a very close field and surprising conditions, everything changed. The phrase ‘Oh, Mama Mia!’ was never more suitable.
